Video shooting and editing

I have extensive experience with a range of different video cameras and DSLRs including Panasonic, Canon, Sony and Blackmagic brands. I have taught video, editing and animation in FE colleges, run animation workshops and created my own stopmotion animations.

A large part of my Digital Resources Developer role at the University of Southampton (2019-2026) has been recording and editing events; pieces to camera; livestreaming conferences; subtitles and accessibility. These videos featuring students and interns were shot, edited and subtitled by Jed, directed by Kate Borthwick and featured on the University of Southampton’s public Website.

I enjoy filming live music and working with local bands. Editing “Laundromat” was a fun exploration of some of the features in the free version of Da Vinci Resolve – I have since upgraded to the full Resolve Studio. Other videos on this page edited with Adobe Premiere Pro.

I was second camera to Mike Last on a multi-date tour by Nick Harper that became Nick’s DVD “Love is Music”

Animation

Stop-motion animation using video cameras, puppets, plasticine and Dragonframe or iStopmotion software. I have assisted with about three hundred short animations while teaching in colleges and during our my-animation workshops with children, people with autism, cerebral palsy and/or wheelchair users. Here are two of my own, the first as a pitch for Blutack’s ‘Clean and Safe’ campaign, the second working with my then 12-year-old son Jamie (he has gone on to win awards and has an MA in animation).
